The Cold Hard Facts

I did some research this morning and found a website called RAINN.ORG which stands for Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network. On there they give the statistics of the sexual abuse crimes that happen in our country. Most if not all of the information they give has been gathered from U.S. Department of Justice. I just thought I should share how little hope there is for rape victims of getting any legal justice:

  • If rape is reported, there is a 50.8% chance of an arrest.
  • If an arrest is made, there is an 80% chance of a prosecution.
  • If there is a prosecution, there is a 58% chance of a conviction.
  • If there is a felony conviction, there is a 69% chance the convict will be sent to prison.
So out of all the rape cases reported there is only a 16.3% chance the accused will end up in jail.

For people who believe that rape is a crime so important from a news standpoint, that for it to be real, it would have to make regional news, if not national news, then think again. According to the department of justice there are over 64, 080 rapes a year, thats 1 reported rape every 8 minutes. I don't know about you but the only rape cases I ever see in the news these days are child rape cases. When you watch the news, do you see a rape story every 8 minutes? I don't think so.

  2. Even if there's no chance of this guy going to prison, I still think you should press charges, go to the media, and put his identity out there. By staying silent I feel like this guy has won. People need to know who this guy is so he can't hurt anyone else. He's broken your spirit and gotten away with it. Don't let him. If not for youself then for the next person he may do this to.

    Also if you're looking to make your story more believable, get a copy of the police report and post a photo of it. I'm a reporter and the police have to release every police report they filed (which had to have been written, since they came out to your house) 24 hours after it's been submitted. At least that's the law in the state I live in.

    I hope you get through this Mason. Revenge only gives him more power over you, only proves that what he did to you still controls you. You're in a position to be able to use this to help others. I hope you take that chance.

  3. Mason my biggest regret is I did not report mine, of course it was a different era and we had a homophobic and plain jerk of a DA in San Diego who once famously was quoted saying "good girls NEVER get raped"

    To him of course male rape did not exist, indeed until he left office (late 90's)his office never prosecuted one male rape.

    Having said that as one reader commented on my blog,,

    Advice on what to do now: If he currently has "the fucker's wallet," post photos of ALL the IDs contained therein. Do not edit or black out a thing.

    Mason interested in private revenge (as opposed to government justice) at this point, well, this oughta do it.

    There was a time when we as a community had to stand up for ourselves since Police were and in your case openly hostile.

    There are ways of fighting back.

    And once again this needs repeating. This was a crime of violence and assault designed to humiliate & destroy YOU as a person.

    Do NOT let that fucker succeed.

    I can't imagine what you must be going through mentally right now and for you to continue to talk about it is incredibly brave. But the beauty of Tori and the people of the RAINN organization is that they do understand what you're going through and help you to understand that you are not alone.

    From one porn actor to another, I defintiely feel for you. I'm well aware of how some people get too carried away with the fantasies they may have of you. While I myself have never been raped, I have defintiely received emails that were cause for alarm.
    You have been concerning me lately, because I kept seeing you pop up in some extreme scenarios on variuos sites. To the point that I felt your were becoming overexposured. If you don't decide to quit porn, please slow down a bit, so you can a normal life. "Normal life meaning a life that give you the true inner peace you long for.
    I hope that you do press charges, and bring forth the fact that they didn't find the rapist wallet. If you don't you are only making yourself another part of the sad statistic as to why so few rapists are put away. If you do those things, and the cops do nothing, then that's bad karma on them for not doing their job. But you should at least do what you need to so you can take solace in knowing you did your part to make justice happen.
    I hope you don't mind my using your story to write a blog explaining some of the rules people need to abide by to better their chances of a safe meeting with someone they've acquainted themselves with over the internet. Much like the way you acqauinted yourself with your attacker. If there's some good to come from your incident, maybe that can be a part of it.

  21. I don't know you. Before this evening when I read about the brutal attack that you were made to suffer, I had never even heard of you. As terrible as your attack was, to be treated as you were by HPD... well I can't even seem to wrap my head around it. I too live in Houston and to think that the people that are supposed to protect us can behave in such a manner is nothing short of appalling. I myself was attacked, though perhaps not as brutally. I was not strong enough to stand up to my attacker. What you are doing, telling people what has happened to you is one of the bravest acts... that I have ever seen. I wish that there was something I could do for you besides letting you know that there are people around you that care. I hope these ALL of these people get what they deserve.

  23. I am flabergasted! I currently have no words appropriate enough to express my horror (at the event), anger (at the assailants) and compassion (for Mason). Hang in there buddy and make sure you get therapy. You're are gonna need it in order to resume a normal life. And if you want justice the best thing to do is to get the media involved. They certainly love to pick on the do-nothing bias and homophobic cops also ... Be Well my friend!

I wish I knew to get help sooner than later. I think you're a courageous person. I read your blog for the first time tonight. I was scared to read your words and face a similar story to mine.   26. I'm so sorry this happened to you! In case you haven't already been told, or considered it, you should look into counseling/therapy for what happened. As a therapist myself, I know that most victims benefit from therapy. Of course, your blog is serving as your outlet, but in the long run, I think you would benefit. Good luck, and take care!

    First off let me offer my hearfelt condolences for both your terrible experience and the jackasses that are telling you all kinds of fucked up shit about it.

    Second of all, be nicer to yourself. A person who enjoys sex is just that, a person who enjoys sex. You don't need to deride yourself with other people's labels (ie: slut) that shit is their hang up. If you choose to you that term for yourself let that be YOUR choice not society's fucked up version of what your morality should be. I hope I'm not being insensitive of offensive when I say You are a beautiful guy and the fact you enjoy sex is NOTHING to be ashamed of. You just happen to be gifted with the ability to get it easier than most of of mere mortals:)

    I agree with the other posters you really should pursue this legally and because of the backward state that Texas is consider a move to a more tolerant state.

    I send you light and prayers and siceraly hope justice comes to the pieces of shit that did this to you.

  30. First off, those who think it's okay to attempt to defraud Mason or laugh about something so unspeakable need to grow a heart. It breaks mine to hear this. Just because you're lying about who you are on the 'net doesn't mean other people are -- especially someone so visible! There's no way a star like him would try to lie and get away with it unless they are completely nuts, and I think anyone reading this blog can tell that Mason IS NOT NUTS.
    To Mason: I can't imagine how difficult and frustrating this is, but you must do everything in your power to press charges against this sociopath(s). I know it will be emotionally taxing... but as for the financial strain, you have so many fans that you could probably start a donation pool for your legal fees. We're all here for you, and I know I for one would give what I can for something so important -- that would probably help someone less visible keep from being brutalized, too.

    I have been a a viewer of your vids for a while and didn't even know you had a blog, so first up, it's good to see that.


    Now for the bad bit. I am SO sorry that this happened to you. As a victim of rape (unfortunately one who didn't report it) I can kind of imagine what you are going through. The big difference is that mine was date rape and was nonviolent.
    It still amazes me what one human being is capable of doing to another!

    For me it was a celebrity. A real one... I won't give his name, even though I should... but he was an NFL player. Basically, it was the dictionary definition of date rape... and even though when I went to go get tested for STD's a few weeks later and told the nurse, she didn't advise me to do anything. Actually, I don't think she believed me. Unfortunatly, and to this day, I never reported it as I don't think anything will happen.

    Regardless... the reason I am telling you all this is that I hope you are stronger than I am. I hope you have proof (which is where I always fall short)... and I hope you win! Just by posting this here you have already had a small victory...

    You need to let your closes friends know who he is just in case he tries something.

    You have every right to be angry and want revenge but you need to see a gay lawyer and stop giving your attackers fuel to come back. Your upset which is understandable but it is best to relie on your family and friends.

    It might be a good idea to get away for awhile just to get yourself some space and clear your mind.

    When I was in college a dear and smart friend once told me that you are lucky if you have 2 or 3 real friends in your life. You need to be with them in your time of need.

    My question is why are you alone right now? This is not the time to be in your home by yourself. Stop thinking you can do it by yourself.

    Get to a rape counsler. They know what you are going through. Your long time health is too important.

    As they say revenge is best served cold. Your too involved to be able to think clearly. Do be prideful.

    What do you think this would do to your mother if something happened to you? And could you live with this? Remember there are many of us who care about you. And don't be alone.

  33. I'm not sure if you know this, but the US has rape shield laws that prevent the defendant from cross examining the victim on their past sexual behavior. This is a pdf of the rape shield laws in the US including Texas:

    You have to press charges for one key reason: to send the message that this isn't ok. He has done this to you and could possibly do it to someone else in the future. By pressing charges you make your point known that he will not get away with this. Even if he isn't convicted maybe he will think twice about doing this to someone else.
