Owning My House In Vermont

I have something to say. I spent the last few months waiting for the right time to tell you but it turns out that there is no right time... I wish I could put this off for a little while longer but information like this usually finds a way of coming out sooner than later. In fact, people have already begun to talk so I might as well just tell you now. I tested positive. I have only myself to blame. I have HIV and it kind of sucks.

Remember testing positive for HIV doesn't mean the end, you still have a lot of life to live and seeing how you managed to do what you did with your porn career I know there isn't much you can't do.     I have lived with HIV for 23 years and I'm still healthy. You can do it too.

    With the advances in medicine it is now possible for someone who recently test positive to live a normal life. Simple do what is needed and you will be fine.

    You're young and healthy there is plenty to look forward to. Do not despair.

  18. It's not a death sentence. It'll complicate your life a lot, like blowing your knee out in sports. But you will survive. You're not stupid, and you knew the risks you were taking. Frankly, I think people should treat you like the adult you are, and respect the decisions you made to bareback and do that kind of stuff. Reject anyone who says "This is the price you pay for your irresonsible behavior!" That's bullshit. If you walk down the stairs, take a tumble, and break your leg -- no one says that sort of crap.

    It is not fun expending vast amounts of money on drugs for your disease, or worrying about giving the virus to someone else now. But you are an adult, knew the risks, and now ugh.

    In the end, though, your health may be affected. But the "you" in You isn't. You're still the same smart, funny, even-tempered guy you have always been. Hold on to that. Nothing is changing that.

  21. Mason... I'm sorry to hear you tested positive. Just remember, it's not a death sentence anymore. I know tons of men who have been positive for over 20 years who are still healthy and active.

    It pisses me off that you were "outed". It's your decision when and how to tell people just as it was when you told people you were gay. Personally, I think people who do things like this should be kicked in the ass.

    This certainly isn't going to change how I feel about you. I still think you are one of the hottest guys around and I hope to continue seeing you perform in the future. As another poster stated, there are lots of HIV+ performers still working.

When I saw your news today, the first thing I thought was "wow, you're very brave to admit this in public", whatever the circumstances. But the second, and most important thing I have to say is: make sure you get yourself a fine specialist, have all your vitals tested regularly, and when the time comes eventually (the T-cells fall below a certain #) take the meds - so many people now live long and healthy lives with HIV.     1. While some meds/classes were known for side-effects, like muscular atrophy/dystrophy, we've learned a lot about countering those same side-effects. Mason, like any person under managed care for chronic conditions, should discuss any concerns he has about taking antiviral or HAART meds with his physician. People who are dealing with learning about a newly positive serostats need our support, not ridicule, judgement, scorn, insensitive or inane comments. Why? Because this would be a time for those in their shock about the news to maximize our support, comfort, strength, and love. Families often have the toughest times lending their support when they make any issue, particularly medical, about them and not the individual who is most affected by it - the primary recipient.

      A positive diagnosis often carries some added weight with it because disclosure may include having to educate the same people one is attempting to seek support from; a balancing act of sorts. In spite of the Sisyphean efforts to educate the public about HIV, funding slashes in prevention and misinformation campaigns still persist and abound in peddling ignorance and fear. They range from the more cynical end where some still insist, despite the plethora of empirical support that refutes it, HIV meds cause the problems people experience. And note: outdated citations from Peter Duesberg don't count, even as a source for the snake-oil salesman. Fewer even claim the HIV-virus has never been isolated, in spite of two people having won a Nobel a few years ago for...*cough* - ahem, discovering the HIV virus. Congrats to Drs. Luc Montagnier, and Francoise Barre-Serra at the Pasteur Institute. These are called denialists who operate under the banner of holistic health with vaccination paranoids, and fluoride fear-mongerers. Notice they're not dissenters; a group of people who hold a differing view? It's for good reasons, namely, they're so outdated in the discussion that it's like claiming the earth is flat at this day and age, hence - denialism. Denialists often capitalize of the vulnerability of those susceptible to their misinformation campaigns, and offers another reason for addressing why 'how we deal with finding out someone's serostatus' matters. For more about refuting denialism, see: "Durban Declaration," International AIDS Conference 2000, Durban, South Africa.

      The most common type of insensitivity many experience is insensitivity itself or comments coming from someone who lacks empathy, and while sometimes even claiming to offer it or sympathy. Likewise, notice the differences between being sympathetic compared to being empathetic? Empathy is far less patronizing but more sincere, if not genuine. Offering barbed or back-handed comments in sympathy is still passive-aggressive and disingenuous, and people who do it shouldn't be surprised to be called out on it just because they're heading a discussion.

      Yes, imagine a world where HIV-positives didn't have to do so much ground work in order to gain a little support from our friends and loved ones when we discover a time when we could use it the most - like finding out a positive test for HIV. Perhaps they could try asking themselves when they get up every day if they were put here just to be an asshole. Yes responders; a therapist is an appropriate venue for you, not online.   46. In a way this reminds me of a Finnish girl, a mountain climber and adventurer who loved to push her limits and conquer more and more challenging and remote places. Then she was apparently caught in a storm or got lost and died at some almost unreachable mountains - at age 25. She did what she loved, boldly and fearlessly, took risks and paid the price. I don't remember seeing anyone vilifying her or gloating at her fate.

    There is an important difference however: Mason is quite alive! Lot of love here for you hot stuff, even offers of help. I'm sure you will find a way to be Mason just the right way eventually.

I see some this trend, I mean non-use the condoms by sexual intercourse , very often in my country. It is only about a trust to my partner.     Don't sweat it. I tested positive in 1994 and did not have to start anti virals until 2009. I have been incredibly lucky and i'm healthy and happy.     This is very upsetting to hear because in my honest opinion this disgusting disease shouldn't be around any longer! However, it is not 25 to 30 years when you wouldn't even know you had this disease until it was basically almost too late! A lot of people did not know about this disease so the lack of education was not around. I really believe that you are young and strong enough to have many decades of life and won't be affected by this disease for a long time...if the stages ever progress! Maybe the all the research for this disease will make it that you never experience any of the symptons and maybe a cure will be found! I really wish this for you, Mason! Even though this disease has been around for almost as long as I have been alive and so much is known about no one has the right to judge you and your actions on how you became infected! You are not being punished for something you did or did not do. For someone to imply that you are is an unfortunate indication that we have not done enough work in HIV to get the message out that HIV is not a punishment. I hope you remember that being HIV positive means that you have a manageable illness. Also, what do you from here does not have to be a public issue even though some people may try to make it public.     Maybe you have seen being poz in a negative way?
    I mean yeah it provides road blocks
    for your future but as far as your health and mental state you are still in control of that.
    With medication, exercise, eating correctly and just making good decisions you can live a very long and healthy life, (most likely out live the ones who outed you)and as far as your mental state seek therapy,and I mean that in a positive way.

Second, yes it sucks....but you can't change things so try and just move past it and keep living. I am only 20 and my ex boy friend is 27- Also, HIV positive. You will find someone who loves you for you - maybe even already have. What I'm trying to get at is, don't lose hope and keep your head up. Stay strong, and know that love has no boundaries.

    I am HIV negative and tend to stay that way. I loved my bf (HIV positive) but the love I wanted from him- he had for someone else. Now I support those who have it. Because if my ex boyfriend had never of told me that he was HIV positve- I would of been lost at the the early age of 18.

    25 years being positive, met some incredible guys over the years being positive lost a few in the early years.but I have six rules to surviving HIV
    1. Get yourself a good HIV doc
    2. Attend your doc's appointment
    3. When the time is right start meds and take them correctly
    4. Avoid other infection like food poisoning, measles chicken pox etc
    5. lifestyle changes ie smoking alcohol, recreational drugs, everything in moderation
    6. Avoid getting reinfected with another strain of HIV.
    I believe in about ten years time we will have a cure.
